OUR STORY

Twelve years ago, the TAX Racing Team, a professional inline speed skating team, was founded. Three years later, the TAX Racing Shop was established, as the first sponsors showed interest in selling their equipment. This is how they began distributing speed skating gear worldwide. Early on, the founders realized that the market for wheels had enormous potential and there was a lot of room for improvement.

Eight years ago, the idea emerged to develop their own inline speed skating wheels, specifically tailored to the needs of athletes. This led to the founding of MANAO GmbH. After extensive research, development, and countless tests, they successfully launched their own wheels in 2024.

As the crowning achievement, they purchased the "Alte Druckerei" in Gera – the perfect home base for their company, from which they can continue to realize their vision and distribute their products worldwide.

We were looking for a name that evokes emotions while also reflecting the sport and the experience it brings. That’s when we came across the Shaka sign, also known as the "Hangloose" gesture. Originally from Hawaii, it symbolizes a lifestyle that perfectly resonates with us: athletic, relaxed, and cool.

The word "mana’o" in Hawaiian not only describes this lifestyle but also something deeply rooted in the sport – the "warrior spirit." In German, it could be understood as a guiding principle that shapes our thinking and actions. For us, the combination of the name and the logo embodies just that: a way of life that is laid-back, casual, yet full of athletic energy.

Our logo, the iconic Hangloose sign, just like our name MANAO, comes from the island of Hawaii. It represents the relaxed, positive vibe that is characteristic of the place. In Hawaii, people greet each other with the Shaka sign, and from there, it made its way into the surf scene. From that point, it spread around the world, especially through famous athletes in football and other sports.

It is an entirely positive symbol with flair. People use it when celebrating or cheering to express a carefree, positive feeling. This is exactly the kind of message we want to convey with our products!
